What will happen when people die?

THE LIFE AFTER DEATH

Everyone always questioning what will happen after we die? Where are we going to stay? Is purgatory real?

Story below is the illustration given in the Bible to answer that question:

Luke 16:19-31
The Rich Man and Lazarus
19 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

22 “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’

25 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’

27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’

29 “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’

30 “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’

31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

The Bible tells us that there are two destination after the physical death - Heaven or Hell.

Truly, our souls has only two destination after we die - return to God or your waiting area will be in hades.

Hebrew 9:27 - Just as man is destined to die once and after that to face judgment.

What does it means? It means that everyone is destined to die on earth then the the judgement.
As man, our physical life will experience death and return to dust where we came from (Ecclesiates 12:7) but our spirit must return to God. If you die Holy and righteous in the eyes of God like Lazarus your soul will just sleep while waiting the judgement day but if you die a sinner like the rich man your soul will suffer in Hades while waiting the judgement day (Daniel 12:1-2).

How do we judge on the judgment day? Is everyone required to face it or those who die before this event?

Revealtion 20:11-15
Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

Revelation 21:7-8
7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. 8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.

After the judgement day, we also have two destination, for the righteous in the eyes of God you will go to Paradise otherwise thrown into the lake of fire to suffer forever.
Accept the fact there is no purgatory, to cleanse your sin because God has given Paul the key of salvation for everyone, which is the GOSPEL of CHRIST - I Corinthians 15:3-4; Acts 2:38

"For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time." - I Timothy 2:5-6

I just wanna share one of my favorite qoutation for eveyone:

"Life is from B to D.  It means from BIRTH to DEATH. Therefore, LIFE starts the day we’ve born to the day we die. But between B and D is letter C. C means CHRIST that saves so our life is just a matter of living in CHRIST!"
